There are 2 methods you can set up a limited company. This is either online via Companies House or a formation agent. The other is to submit your application by post.
Set up a limited company by post
The first method of setting up your limited company is via post. But before you decide to do so, there are a few things you should know.
The first thing you is that when you set up your limited company by post is that it’s more expensive than doing it online. For just a simple company formation, Companies House will charge you £40.
Secondly, you will need to print and complete all 20 pages of the IN01 form. If any of the sections are incorrectly completed or not printed in full size on white A4 paper, your application won’t be accepted.
Thirdly you’ll be waiting longer for your application to be accepted. If you set up a limited company by submitting an application by post, you’ll have to wait for around 8 – 10 days or your application to be accepted.
Set up a company online
First of all, to set up a limited company online, Companies House will charge you just £12 for a standard company formation, that’s a £28 saving compared to doing it via post. If you wanted to save even more money, we charge just £9.99!
Secondly, correcting mistakes on an online application is a lot easier than on a paper form. Plus, our expert customer support team are on hand to answer any questions you might have about your application. We can even check it before it’s sent to guarantee your application will be accepted!
Thirdly, it can take under 24 hours for your application to be accepted once it’s submitted online. This means that your new company could be trading over a week earlier than if you submitted your application by post!
